We have created a few new tools this year to assist with assembling and submitting your 2020 tax information.  The links to these can be found on our website.  If you are new to our firm, please use the interactive questionnaire to provide all of your information to get us started.  The tax checklist is a printable form that will help you collect and organize your documents.  You can tick it off as you assemble your information.  I am pretty excited about this one.  There is another blog about my love of lists!

Please provide your tax records no later than April 21st to ensure we can meet the April 30th CRA deadline. Last year there were extensions to the filing deadline.  As I write this article, we have not been apprised of any changes.

One of the things that is often overlooked when submitting your tax information is changes to your address, addition of a child, change in marital status.  Please send us this information as well.

If you have non-registered investments, please ask your advisor to send you the statement of realized gains/losses and the investment fees paid during the year.

We have several ways to submit your tax papers.

  1. New this year, you can submit information online through our website, using our secure ShareFilesystem. This can be found in the “Contact Us” section. (*)
  2. By fax at 250-590-5392
  3. Delivery to our office at 766 Hillside Avenue between 8 AM and 4 PM. Our office doors are usually locked, so when you arrive, please knock and some one will come to the door and retrieve your information.  Ensure your documents are in a secure envelope with your contact information on the outside.  If you require an envelope, there will be a bin outside the door with envelopes and single use pens.  Please take the pen with you!

Please note that due to the continuance of COVID-19, we will be continuing to send out all relevant documents that require a signature relating to T1 documents via our online platform called RightSignature.

Meetings during tax season will be hosted via Zoom or by Phone. To request a meeting, please call the office and speak to an Admin Team Member to set up a zoom or phone meeting with Colleen or Brian to review your tax documents.

Should you not have access to Zoom or the ability to sign electronically, please call the office and speak to an Admin Team Member to discuss an alternative solution to sign your documents.
